Paul is a father of 2 girls — one is 13 and the other is 3. Paul initially heard of the Perinatal Fatherhood Initiative through his girlfriend who was pregnant at the time. He began attending meetings with her so they would both be better prepared to be parents. Paul really enjoyed the meetings, but missed having other men he could relate to. He and a couple other dads initiated a fathers’ group and became known as the “Founding Fathers.” Paul mentioned his own childhood and how he was disciplined through spanking and hitting. He was looking for a better way to raise his children and credits the Perinatal program for teaching him how to effectively communicate with his children. Paul says the Fathers’ group gives him a strong support network where he can share and ask for help.
