Al and Barbara Siemer have been assisting families through the Siemer Family Stability Programs since 2003, first launching the program in Sarasota, Florida and Columbus, Ohio. Since 2009, Heart of Florida United Way has been administering Siemer Family Stability funds to implement programs in Osceola, Orange and Seminole Counties by partnering with agencies servicing families with school-age children.
A primary focus is to reduce student disruption by helping families stabilize financially to avoid eviction or foreclosure. Additionally, Heart of Florida United Way implemented a longer-term, in-house Siemer Family Stability program, targeting families in a neighborhood with the highest concentration of generational poverty in the City of Orlando. These programs align with the Heart of Florida United Way focus areas of income, education, employment and basic needs.
