home audio video solutions

When seeking the perfect Savannah AV solutions, individuals often start the process by educating themselves on what technologies and products they will need. TVs and wireless control systems are obvious, but many find themselves confused beyond the basics.

This beginner’s series is designed to provide you with an extensive knowledge of home audio systems, with the primary focus of this article being amps and preamps.

Amps

For a truly amazing home audio-video experience, you won’t want just a great screen with tiny speakers. You will want amazing sound quality as well.

For supreme sound, families and individuals turn to powerful amplifiers to take their home audio system to the next level. But amplifiers are not only more powerful than archaic stereo receivers, they also provide more flexibility and quality.

A large part of this flexibility is due to an amplifiers ability to be multi-channel. With multi-channel amps, you can power a variety of speakers and produce a more expansive, high-powered sound without damaging the amplifier.

You may be wondering, “But how do I know if I need multi-channel amps? And if so, how many channels of amplifications will I need?” The answer depends primarily on your intended use. For example, the amount of channels that you will need depends predominately on how many speakers you will be using, as well as a few other factors, such as your listening environment and overall intended use.

Say, for instance, that you are looking to power your backyard patio. In this case, you will definitely want to use a multi-channel amplifier, as powering an outdoor environment can require much more power than if you were indoors.

Preamps

A preamp, which connects the sound receiver to the amplifier, boosts the audio signal so it can be amplified in a clean, flawless manner. It is important to note, though, that preamps do not increase the sound power, but instead clarify it. In doing so, the preamp provides the amplifier with a clean, high-quality signal.

At Custom Audio Video, our experienced audio video installation professionals have been implementing audio and video systems in South Carolina’s low country for the past 17 years.
